Welcome to the official website for the Village of Mechanicsburg, Ohio! 

The Village of Mechanicsburg was established in 1814 on The Shawnee Indian Village of Chief Ohito and is home to 1,744 people* in south-east Champaign County, Ohio.

The village has a strong historical background. Its noted for five Historical Markers (from the Ohio Historical Society), its small village appeal, friendly community, agricultural community, and an "Excellent" rated School District by the Ohio Department of Education. The Village is also noted for being the hometown of Notable Natives including Addison White, William B. Saxbe, James Roy Hopkins, and Joseph E. Wing. Beyond its Notable Natives Mechanicsburg has also had deep roots being a participant of the underground railroad where the Village led 500 slaves to their freedom.

The Village has created a Public Health information source to provide it's citizens with the latest information regarding the flu panademic and H1N1 (swine) influenza.

Champaign County is acting under a Level 1 Snow Emergency.

The Weather Page has local forecasts, weather safety information, and many tools necessary for getting through the winter weather season. Additionally, we have added Winter Weather safety information on the Street Department page.

 



Home Repair Assitance Available

Champaign County has been awarded grant funds to help low- to moderate-income homeowners make improvements to their homes.  Priority for the assistance will be given to eligible homeowners who live in the Village of Mechanicsburg Target Area. A public meeting to discuss the grantbe held on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 5:30 p.m.
